National COVID-19 exposure server could alert people in all states

COVID-19 contact tracing applications will not be effective across borders if states and countries can easily share data, and a collaboration could soon happen in the United States. iMore reports that Apple, Google and Microsoft are job with the Association of Public Health Laboratories to launch a national server to store keys and help exposure notifications reach people in all states. It would be based on Apple and Google exposure alert frame, while Microsoft and APHL would host the server.

This move could harmonize applications across the country and help people crossing national borders. It could also help “eliminate duplication” and save states the cost and time of setting up their own servers, APHL said.
